What area does OZtopo cover?
OZtopo covers all of Australia
What scale are the maps?
OZtopo is a vector product and as such the term "scale" does not apply. However the
data provided in OZtopo is similar to that found on 1:25,000 topographic maps.
What size is OZtopo?
For all of Australia, OZtopo is 1370 MB. It is provided as two layers, contours
and roads.
For the 10m Contour layer, 1010 MB for all of Australia but partial areas,
as small as 50km x 50km, can be loaded.
As a guide;
Qld-225MB, NSW/ACT-190MB, Vic-80MB, Tas-50MB, SA-90MB, WA-250MB, NT-120MB
For the Road and Track layer, approx 310 MB for all of Australia but partial
areas, as small as 50km x 50km, can be loaded.
As a guide;
Qld-50MB, NSW/ACT-90MB, Vic-50MB, Tas-25MB, SA-26MB, WA-58MB, NT-10MB
Where does the mapping data come from?
The roads and points of interest data is supplied by and copyright MapData Sciences
Pty Ltd, PSMA Australia Ltd and is from their September 2007 release. The 10m
contour data is derived from SRTM satellite data and the intellectual property
rights are vested in the U.S. Geological Survey. The source for this dataset is
the Global Land Cover Facility.
What GPSs can I use OZtopo on?
OZtopo can be used on most Garmin Mapping GPS units; See
here for a list of compatible GPS units.
Will OZtopo work on my PC or Mac?
Yes it does. It can be viewed on either a PC using MapSource or a Mac using RoadTrip.
OZtopo is supported on Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OS X 10.4 and later
- Can I view OZtopo on the PC?
Yes, OZtopo can be viewed on the PC if you already have a MapSource program
installed.
Some Garmin GPS units come with come with Trip & Waypoint Manager (part of the
MapSource family) in the box.
OZtopo is comprised of 2 mapsets or layers, OZtopo Roads and OZtopo 10M
Contours. These mapsets view as two separate maps on the PC but can be viewed
as combined map on the GPS. The two layers can be combined for viewing on a PC
- I do not have a MapSource program. Which is the cheapest to buy?
Trip & Waypoint Manager is the cheapest MapSource program.
- Will OZtopo work on a MAC?
Yes, OZtopo can be viewed on a Mac via RoadTrip.

Will OZtopo work with other Garmin maps?
Yes, provided there is sufficient memory within the GPS itself or on the storage
card. OZtopo has been tested with many additional maps including City Navigator
Australia and BlueChart without a problem.
Is OZtopo available on preloaded cards?
Yes, OZtopo is available for most Garmin GPS units. Please request this option when ordering.
Can I upgrade from a previous version?
- From V1:
An upgrade from OZtopo V1 is available for A$99 inc GST. All upgrades must be
processed via GPSOZ.
Proof of purchase, original OZtopo V1 CD and serial number needs to be sent to
GPSOZ when ordering an upgrade.
- From V2.0:
Upgrades from V2.0 to V2.1b are free. It can be obtained from the dealers listed
here or via a download from
www.oztopo.com/updates -
V2 unlock codes can be used with V2.1 or V2.1b
- To future versions:
Upgrades, at reduced prices, will be offered to existing OZtopo customers.
Proof of purchase will be required. The upgrade schedule is approximately every 12
months. New unlock codes will be required for future versions.
What will I pay for OZtopo?
OZtopo is priced at A$229 inc GST, which includes the DVD and the Mapping
Licence.
OZtopo & preloaded card (SD or microSD) is priced at A$259 inc GST, which includes the DVD,
the Mapping Licence & preloaded card to suit one nominated GPS.

How is OZtopo licensed:
OZtopo is licensed for use with one GPS unit.
An unlock code, obtainable online or over the phone, is required to view the
maps in detail on a PC or load the maps onto a GPS
How does OZtopo affect my Garmin warranty?
No. The installation of OZtopo is like any Garmin mapping product.
